CDA to receive report on burnt child

The Child Development Agency (CDA) is Thursday expected to receive a report on the incident in which a father severely burnt his eight year old son on Maxfield Avenue in Kingston.

The agency has not given an official statement on the matter and Chief Executive Officer, Allison Anderson said she expects the report Thursday.

She said until then she will not comment on the matter.

Public outrage and horror followed Friday's televised images of the boy suffering from third degree burns.

Carlyle Waldron, a steel worker of Maxfield Avenue in St. Andrew was denied bail on Monday when he appeared in the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court to answer charges of grievous bodily harm.

He has since been charged with attempted murder following further investigations into the incident during which he allegedly threw gasoline on his eight year old son then set him on fire.

It is reported that the incident took place on Tuesday February 3 when the little boy returned home from school without his shoes.

The police said the boy suffered third degree burns all over his body and was rushed to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.

His father was remanded until March 2 when he will face the Kingston Circuit Court.
