The Jamaica Agricultural Society [JAS] has expressed concern that several small chicken farmers are losing their poultry due to the intense heat affecting the island.
JAS President Lenworth Fulton told Radio Jamaica News that the heat has been having a devastating effect on chicken farmers.
He disclosed that some chicken farmers have reduced the number of chickens they rear in order to reduce their loss.
Mr Fulton said the supply of chicken might be less than normal during the Christmas season if the situation continues.
