A major investigation has been opened by sex crime
detectives in St. Ann
into the vicious assault and sexual battery of a five-year-old girl allegedly
by a 53-year-old man in Ocho Rios last week.
The incident which took place last Friday in Dunnsville, near the resort town has left the community shaken to the core, as residents come to grips with the brutal assault on the little girl.
For the last several days, investigators attached the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, CISOCA, have been kept busy unravelling the case that has left residents in Dunnsville rattled.
The girl, who has survived what investigators described as a harrowing ordeal, is now undergoing medical treatment with lingering concerns about her long term health and well being.
Police say a 53-year-old St. Ann farmer has been nabbed and taken into custody in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of the little girl.
According to reports he was taken into custody on Saturday morning.
It is understood that the suspect is to undergo an identification parade before the end of this week.
RJR News understands that about 11 o'clock on Saturday night, the child was reportedly seen walking naked along the Dunsville Main Road by a route taxi operator.
The child was found covered in blood and her body had multiple stab wounds.
She was taken to the hospital and following a detailed medical examination, the battered and bruised girl child was discovered to have been raped.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the child had been left in the care of an adult friend of her family in the Old Buckfield community, while her mother an errands at the Ocho Rios Market.
When the little girl's mother returned home, she discovered that the child was missing.
After a frantic search failed to locate the little girl, her mother filed a missing persons report at the Ocho Rios Police Station.
Reports are that the child was found by the taxi operator while the missing persons report was being filed.
