Two people including a man charged for murder, were killed in Salt Spring, St. James on Thursday.
Those killed have been identified as 22-year-old Imani Jarrett of Refuge Lane Flower Hill, St. James and 30-year-old Odane Smith, otherwise called 'Puns' of Flower Hill, St. James and Logwood Whithorn, Westmoreland.
Reports are that Smith and Jarrett, who were in a common law relationship, were two of three passengers in a taxi heading from Flower Hill to Montego Bay, St. James.
Upon reaching the vicinity of Salt Spring Primary and Infant School, the driver slowed to navigate a speed bump when a group of five men armed with rifles and hand guns approached the vehicle. Both Smith and Jarrett ran from the vehicle and were fired on by the men.
The driver sped off and drove to the Montego Hills police station.
On the arrival of the police, the body of Jarrett was seen lying in the middle of Salt Spring road in the vicinity of Salt Spring Primary and Infant School while the body of Smith was seen with multiple gunshot wounds along the side of Hall Road in a pool of blood.
Smith was a suspect in the September 3 murder of Brenton Richards at Flower Hill, St. James.
He was also charged for the murder of Patrick Parker and shooting with intent of another man which occurred on June 6, 2020 at Logwood Whithorn, and was due in court on November 9.
