The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) has moved to defend its decision to remove the children of local TikTok personality June Dixon, popularly known as Rosalee, from her care.
The clarification comes amid outrage from some online users who disagreed with the entity's action.
CPFSA says it took action following an ongoing investigation into the alleged abuse of Ms. Dixon's two children, which was further heightened by a recent post made by the influencer stating that she is thinking of killing them.
Chief Executive Officer Laurette Adams-Thomas says the CPFSA had to act swiftly in the best interest of the children to prevent them from becoming victims of irreparable harm.
"The CPFSA had previously received multiple reports through our anonymous reporting system of alleged abuse being meted out to both of Rosalee's children. Our investigation into this matter was already underway and we had tried to talk with Rosalee multiple times. But, you know, she was consistently uncooperative. Following a recent TikTok live session by Rosalee earlier this week, in which she stated that she felt like burning down the house and to "stab up her children and spouse", we decided to escalate our investigation's process and to safeguard her children by removing them. This action is a part of CPFSA's investigation and child care and protection process which the agency is mandated to do under the Child Care and Protection Act."
Mrs. Adams-Thomas also moved to distance the CPFSA from posts circulating on social media with information purported to be from the agency.
"We have not sent out any information regarding this matter nor did that document or the information it contains originate from the CPFSA. We are therefore asking the public to disregard that information. Sharing videos or images of abuse may unintentionally cause further trauma or lifelong stigma for that child. Instead, person should report suspected cases of abuse to the CPFSA by calling our 24-7 child abuse reporting hotline 211."
Information can also be shared with the CPFSA via WhatsApp at 876-878-2882.
