Sandals Resorts has announced a landmark partnership with Royal Caribbean Group, which will acquire a 50 per cent stake in Sandals and Beaches Resorts for approximately US$3 billion.
The companies say the joint venture will combine Royal Caribbean's cruise and private-destination offerings with Sandals and Beaches' all-inclusive resorts, while supporting further expansion of the Jamaican brands across the Caribbean.
Sandals Executive Chairman Adam Stewart will retain a leadership role in the business, with the joint venture's board to be co-led by Stewart and Royal Caribbean Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty.
Existing reservations, loyalty programmes and resort operations are expected to continue as usual.
The transaction is expected to close in early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
Sandals Resorts Executive Chairman Adam Stewart said the company's new partnership with Royal Caribbean Group will help accelerate the global expansion of Sandals and Beaches Resorts while preserving their Caribbean identity.
He said the agreement is centred on "growth with purpose", combining Royal Caribbean's global strength and experience with the values, hospitality and legacy that have defined the Jamaican-founded resort brands.
Stewart stressed that Sandals will remain Sandals, Beaches will remain Beaches, and the Caribbean will continue to be their home.
Sandals Resorts operates adults-only all-inclusive properties in several Caribbean destinations, including Jamaica, while Beaches operates family-oriented resorts, including properties in Negril.
