In a statement issued after his court appearance said Daryl Vaz, he has indicated to the leadership of the Jamaica Labour Party, that he will take leave of absence with immediate effect.
This means that the West Portland Member of Parliament will step down from his position as Shadow Minister on ICT & Digital Society Development.
Mr. Vaz, in the statement said, he decided to take this course of action because he thought it was the right thing to do.
He also says, it will serve to minimize any effect the matter could have on the party.
Additionally Mr. Vaz is seeking to assure his constituents, that he will continue his work in West Portland and expressed confidence that he will be vindicated.
