West Portland Member of Parliament, Daryl Vaz is to
return to the Buff Bay Criminal Court in Portland
next month to answer to criminal charges.
The Junior Minister appeared before court on February 18th on charges of using abusive language to the police in December last year.
However, the court was told that the file on the case was not yet complete.
Mr Vaz is scheduled to return to court on March 18th.
The State Minister, who is attached to the Office of the Prime Minister, was served with several summonses by the police on February 12th.
The police have accused him of using abusive language to them during an incident in Buff Bay, on the day of the Local Government Elections in December.
He is also charged with obstructing the police and unlawful assembly.
Members of the Portland Police were reportedly confronted by Mr. Vaz when they went to shut down a street dance which was being held in celebration of the Jamaica Labour Party's victory in the local government polls.
The incident sparked a heated exchange between the Junior Minister and the police.
Mr. Vaz has denied all the charges.
