Dirk Harrison sworn in as Contractor General

Newly appointed Contractor General, Dirk Harrison has promised to carry-on the mandate of his predecessors in tackling endemic corruption in the country.

Harrison,  who was sworn in as the country's fifth Contractor General on Monday afternoon at King's House - the official residence of the Governor General, outlined his first order of business.
"I intend to utilize some more of the legislation, I think there are other areas in which it can be utilized  for example in terms of summoning people before the Contractor General for the purpose of obtaining information , that's one avenue that we are going  to utilize much more."

He also addressed  the case involving the Office of the Contractor General (OCG) and the Cabinet in relation to government projects.

"My posture is that whatever has happened prior to the first of March 2013, I will accept and endorse,I will abide by it,  I am changing nothing, I will not interfere with any process that has already commenced," he said.
The matter is currently being reviewed by the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
 

Harrison who replaces Greg Christie whose term ended on December 1 last year, will officially assume office on Friday March 1.
