Newly elected JAS president Owen Dobson and attorney-at-law Hugh Wildman

Owen Dobson is determined to execute the duties of president of the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) despite questions about the legitimacy of his position.
Mr. Dobson was elected president at the Annual General Meeting of the Society on Wednesday despite an injunction in place to bar it from going ahead.
A defiant Mr. Dobson says the first order of business will be to get an update on the organisation's status and request a financial audit.
"We will also ask the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining to do a financial and operational audit of the JAS. Our new phase will be foster better working relationship with all the stakeholders, including the Ministry, to move the JAS forward to the betterment of you, the farmers," he declared.
But attorney-at-law Hugh Wildman has said Mr. Dobson was not duly elected, as the AGM was of no effect.
"It is irresponsible. Everyone who participated in the breach of the injunction will be dealt with, for sure. They will be brought to court. There is no question about that," said the disgruntled attorney.
He said the submissions have been drafted for a court to hold the participants in the AGM to account.
