Driver involved in deadly St. Catherine motorcade asked to report to police

The St. Catherine North Police are urging the driver who was involved in a deadly motorcade on Sunday in St. Catherine, to report to the Spanish Town Police Station.
 
It's reported that 32-year-old Chavine Thompson, of a Homestead address in the parish, was leaving a funeral when he joined a motorcade on a Toyota Hiace bus and subsequently fell to his death.
 
The motorcade was for Jamaica Labour Party councillor candidate for the Sydenham division, Jennifer Hull.
 
Sergeant Donovan Barnes, who is in charge of the St. Catherine North Police Traffic Department, confirmed with Radio Jamaica News that the incident occurred, but said it was not initially reported to the police.
 
Mr. Thompson's mother, Michelle Douglas, on Tuesday afternoon recounted the details of the tragic incident. 
 
"They were motorcading on Featherbed Lane, and after leaving Featherbed Lane, they go at the gas station. So I hear that the bus make a turn to go inside of the gas station; that's where him fall off a di bus, lick him head, mash up him head. So dem pick him up, carry him go a hospital. After carry him go a hospital and undergoing treatment, him pass off." 
 
She called for the driver of the bus to surrender to the authorities. She also urged anyone with information to contact the police. 
 
"Right now, mi wouldn't mind fi whoever see di accident or suh, coulda just come forward come mek a report fi mi...talk how it go or wah, because I wasn't there," she pleaded. 
 
The St. Catherine North Police say they have launched a probe into the matter.
 
An officer confirmed that the police will be reviewing CCTV footage, if available, at the Marco gas station on Featherbed Lane to ascertain the details of the incident.
 
Meanwhile, an eyewitness who spoke with Radio Jamaica News said Mr. Thompson was sitting atop the bus when the vehicle made a right turn and he fell to his death.
