The parliamentary opposition says government criticism of its leader Mark Golding for holding dual citizenship has come back to haunt it, following Friday's admission by Senator Matthew Samuda that he is the holder of British citizenship.
He later said he is in the advanced stages of renouncing it.
Senator Samuda was one of three government members who came under fire from PNP General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell after he raised questions about whether they were also dual citizens.
Speaking in Manchester on Sunday, Opposition Spokesperson on Information Nekeisha Burchell said the government's effort to diminish the image of Opposition Leader Mark Golding in the eyes of the public over his citizenship status, will fail.
"Dem dig the hole a try to ketch Mark, and Mark just guh suh, oops, and sight it.... But them figet fi cover up the hole and the whole a the Labourite dem a drop inna di citizenship hole," she quipped, noting that the opposition knew of "at least five" others in government, apart from Mr. Samuda, who have dual citizenship.
"And guess what? Anuh all of them come from Commonwealth country. Some of them come from America and we have some Israelites," she claimed.
Ms. Burchell was speaking at the Knockpatrick Divisional Meeting at May Day High School in Manchester on Sunday.
