An early morning earthquake has rattled eastern Cuba, just hours after a nationwide blackout plunged the island into darkness.
The US Geological Survey says the quake measured 5.8 in magnitude, while Cuba's National Seismological Research Center recorded it slightly higher at 6.0.
The epicentre was located off the coast of Guantánamo province and was felt across eastern sections of the island.
Despite the tremor, state newspaper Granma reports there were no fatalities or major damage.
The quake comes after Cuba's national power grid collapsed on Monday afternoon, marking the sixth island-wide blackout in about 18 months.
Authorities say the cause of the outage is still under investigation.
Reports indicate nearly 10 million people were left without electricity, affecting water supply, telecommunications and internet services.
Residents have since been relying on candles, flashlights and battery-powered radios as the country grapples with ongoing economic challenges.
