'Eat What We Grow' campaign saves economy US$500 million

The “Grow What We Eat…Eat What We Grow" campaign has saved the Jamaican economy an estimated US$500 million since it was established in 2003.

Norman Grant, Chairman of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, speaking on Monday at the 65th staging of the Denbigh agricultural show, used the platform to honour 65 outstanding farmers for their contribution to Agriculture and Nation Building.

He pointed out that many times farmers have been forgotten, only to be remembered when the economy is in a challenge or there is shortage of food on the market.
