The Ministry of Education Ministry says it is responding to the disruption that resulted in a suspension of classes at Sydney Pagon STEM Academy in St. Elizabeth on Wednesday.
The Ministry says the disruption is suspected to have arisen from a mental health breakdown experienced by a female teacher on the school premises.
It says steps are being taken to address this incident with the utmost urgency and sensitivity.
In that regard, steps have been taken immediately to provide support and counselling to those affected, including access to clinicians for psychological and socio-emotional care for school staff and students.
The Ministry says students who were scheduled to sit Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) exams were not significantly affected by this disruption and were able to continue their examinations without interruption.
