Director of Elections Glasspole Brown says the Electoral Office of Jamaica will be conducting a detailed assessment on Thursday to determine what caused the slow voting process across the island during Wednesday's general election.
Some electors complained about waiting in line for up to four hours.
Mr. Brown said he received reports of long lines at some locations, but noted that the issue was largely due to electors turning up to polling stations with expired voter ID cards.
"That extended the time, the period, the processing of it, so that impacted on it. However, by tomorrow we'll be doing a detailed assessment in terms of what took place today," he said.
But electorates who voted at polling stations where the Electronic Voter Identification System (EVIS) was used also complained about delays.
"In those seven constituencies, we [had] an issue in terms of the machine. We paused and then went to the manual system in terms of four constituencies. The other three continued and it flowed properly. As I said, we're gonna do the assessment in terms of all the issues and we will see where we go from there," the Director of Elections maintained.
