At least one explosion has hit a southern suburb in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, a base for the Iranian-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah.
Israel's army says it has carried out a strike, which it says targeted the Hezbollah commander responsible for a deadly attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday.
Israel blamed Hezbollah for that strike - the group has denied involvement.
An Israeli reaction had been expected following the incident over the weekend.
