A family is calling for the authorities to assist with the search for a 15-year-old boy who was swept away by strong currents at a beachfront in the Laughlands area of St. Ann on Sunday.
He is Cadri Bennett, a student of Ferncourt High School in Claremont, St. Ann.
The Jamaica Defence Force assisted with the search on Monday and Tuesday, but his body was not located.
Family members say they expected further assistance from the JDF on Wednesday, but that did not happen.
The teenage boy's father, Gareth Bennett, said the family has done everything they can to find him.
He is now appealing for the JDF to revisit the area to try and locate him.
"It not looking good and I need to find my son. I need to give him that peace of mind. The JDF told us that search will continue for five days, so I hope fully for the next two days I will get that much help to see if I can find him," said Mr. Bennett.
The teen's mother, Natalie Johnson, said she has been left distraught at the idea of not recovering her son from the water.
"I feel disappointed because I was keeping my hope that I'm going to find my baby today, because I just want to find him. I just want to see him. And I thought I would see him today," she lamented.
