Five dead following crash on P.J. Patterson Highway

 
Five persons have been confirmed dead following a crash along the P.J. Patterson Highway in St. Catherine on Wednesday afternoon. 
 
The collision happened about 3 p.m. when a Toyota Hiace bus travelling towards Kingston suffered a right tyre blowout in the vicinity of Sharpe Lane. 
 
The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle which hit the guardrail and overturned. 
 
There were 19 passengers on board. 
 
Police say three men and two women died, while several other passengers were injured and taken to hospital. 
 
The fatalities from this crash have pushed the number of people killed on Jamaica's road since the start of the year to 342.
