Foreign Affairs Ministry working with Cayman Islands to locate missing Jamaican woman

The Foreign Affairs Ministry says its consulate in the Cayman Islands is now working with investigators to locate a Jamaican woman who disappeared mysteriously there, on Saturday.

She's 25-year-old Karran Natalee Baker, who has been working as a practical nurse and receptionist in the Cayman Islands for the last three years.

An investigator from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service who spoke with RJR News said they're continuing their search but up to Tuesday afternoon were no closer to finding the missing woman.

Ms Baker's fiance, Shawn Gracey who's in Jamaica, told our newscentre  he last made contact with her just before 5' o clock on Saturday:

“  The last communication I had with her was via bb messenger. She sent a message to me and I responded , this was about 4:40 or thereabouts. When I sent her the message it was read, I could safely say she would have read that message” he said.

Mr. Gracey said he and friends tried calling her cellphone for several hours to no avail, and became concerned.

Police investigators in Cayman spent Monday afternoon searching an area near Pedro Castle in Savannah for Ms Baker.

The missing woman's white Honda Civic motorcar was found on the cemetery lawn a short distance away.

The police say she was last seen driving her car in the Red Bay area.

However Mr. Gracey says he's yet to hear from the investigators on the progress of the search.

"I've tried on several occasions, I’ve left my name and number and I have not gotten any information. Her mother and stepfather left my number and name for them to call and I still have not received a call”

One friend reportedly went to her home on Arrow Drive in Bodden Town Saturday night, and entered the residence with assistance from the landlord.

The 25-year-old woman’s handbag and groceries were found in the house.

During a search of Miss Baker’s car, police found a suitcase with several packages inside wrapped in plastic bags, but the police gave no indication of what those might contain.

Reports out of Cayman also say Scenes of Crime officers also dusted for fingerprints and removed items from inside the vehicle.

Following a search of the vehicle, police K-9 units and a helicopter made a  full  sweep of the area.

The police have also issued bulletins appealing to persons with information on Ms Baker's whereabouts to contact them.
