Michael Misick former Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands is back in that country following his extradition from Brazil.
Lawyers representing Misick are now preparing to make a crucial appearance in the island's Supreme Court on Tuesday.
Misick is being represented by Oliver Smith, a Jamaican attorney who will be joined by a team of high-powered international lawyers.
When contacted by RJR News on Tuesday, Smith confirmed his client's arrival and that he was on his way to speak with him, ahead of the court appearance.
On Monday, Queen’s Counsel Andrew Mitchell, the lead prosecutor for the Special Investigation and Prosecution Team confirmed Misick's scheduled court appearance.
The Turks and Caicos Sun reported that Misick is to be accompanied a British police officer.
In the meantime, supporters of Misick are already preparing T-shirts and placards in anticipation of his arrival.
Special Prosecutor Helen Garlick had previously stated that whenever Misick returns he would have been barred from speaking to anyone including his lawyers.
The former Premier, who had fled to Brazil, was re-arrested in Sao Paulo in April last year. He was released on bail in February, after being arrested in December 2012.
Missick's application for political asylum was rejected by Brazil’s Justice Minister.
