Former T&T PM, Patrick Manning remains in hospital

Former Trinidadian Prime Minister Patrick Manning remains in hospital after collapsing at his San Fernando East constituency office Thursday afternoon.

Chairman of  the South West Regional Health Authority, Dr. Lackram Bodoe, said Mr. Manning is in a stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital after being attended to at the Accident and Emergency Department.

He was kept overnight for observation and is expected to have a CT scan Friday morning to ensure there was no damage to the brain.

 His sister Dr. Petronella Manning-Alleyne, who rushed to his side, said he had not suffered another stroke, as reports first said.  

 In a telephone interview, Dr. Manning-Alleyne said he suffered a seizure.

 She explained that the seizures were one of  the long-term effects of  the stroke that Mr. Manning suffered in January 2012.

 Mr. Manning, who is 67, has been on extended sick leave.
