Georgia smashes early voter records in US presidential election

More than three million people have participated in early voting in the swing state of Georgia, smashing records ahead of the November 5 election.

This is compared to 2.1 million at this point in the last presidential election.

Two-thirds of the entire election turnout from 2020 have already voted in Georgia.

Joe Biden won Georgia in 2020 by less than 1%.

After Donald Trump lost to Mr. Biden, he accused the state of election fraud.

The former president is facing a lawsuit in Georgia for allegedly attempting to overturn the election.

Both Mr. Trump and Kamala Harris continue their tour of crucial battlegrounds, and both are holding competing events in Wisconsin and North Carolina.

With less than a week to go, polls suggest the race couldn't be closer.
