The government has sought to engage with International Development Partners to access resources to build resilience and implement activities aimed at mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
This is in response to Jamaica's high vulnerability to natural disasters stemming from climate change, especially along the coast line.
The recently published Economic and Social Survey 2023 said between 2014 and 2023, Jamaica received approximately US$171.4 million in Overseas Development Agency resources directed towards the Environment and Climate Change sector.
The social survey published by the Planning Institute of Jamaica says a share of 77 per cent of resources was in the form of grants.
Areas of assistance included Agriculture, Disaster Risk Management, Governance, Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, as well as Climate Financing.
