Four men from the Cherry Tree Lane community in Four Paths, Clarendon have been taken into custody for firearm related offences.
They were arrested on Monday afternoon.
The men, who were travelling on two separate motorcycles, were arrested after being chased and cornered by the security forces.
They had earlier been signalled to stop but failed to do so.
A bag in the men's possession was searched and an illegal 9 millimetre handgun seized.
Police sources say the men took steps to arm themselves after the deadly terror attack in their community and may have been considering reprisal attacks.
Seventeen people were shot, eight fatally, at a gathering on Sunday night.
In the meantime, a heavy deployment of soldiers and police is now in Cherry Tree Lane.
They were observed patrolling the community from early Monday afternoon.
