Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn a short while ago informed the court that an illegal firearm that was taken from Bijon Black when he was arrested by the police is the weapon that was used to kill Toshyna Patterson and her daughter, Sarayah Paulwell.
This was confirmed by ballistics testing.
The revelation on Wednesday came during the case management hearing for murder accused Leoda Bradshaw and her three co-accused, including her cousin Roland Balfour.
Meanwhile, Bijon Black and David Smith also appeared in the Home Circuit court in relation to the killing of the mother and her 10-month-old daughter. They are unrepresented.
Justice Vinette Graham Allen has ordered that the Legal Aid Council consider assigning two senior attorneys to represent each accused. She said the council should consider an attorney with experience in excess of six years due to the technical and complex issues in the case.
All four accused were remanded until June 13 for the continuation of case management.
The matter is still underway.
