The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit in Guyana says it is receiving assistance with its probe into the seizure of cocaine worth an estimated GY$27 million at a cargo company near the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Sunday night.
The suspect was detained after agents intercepted a motor vehicle during a routine operation at the cargo company.
CANU said a search of the motor car led to the discovery of 23 brick-like parcels of suspected cocaine, a 9mm pistol, and a magazine with 14 rounds.
It said that the parcels tested positive for cocaine, weighing almost 58 pounds.
