Agriculture officials in Haiti have warned farmers and the general population that cases of anthrax have been discovered in several communities in the south and south east of the country.
In a statement Sunday, the Ministry said anthrax is a highly contagious disease and when an animal has the disease, it usually dies quickly.
The Ministry said people can also contract anthrax that can present in many forms.
Based on this, the Ministry has asked everyone to be careful with animals that show symptoms of anthrax.
Residents are being told not to eat or sell meat from suspect animals and to be careful with dead animals.
The Ministry has also asked the population to follow all the advice of veterinary officers in their locality to prevent the disease spreading throughout the nation.
