US Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday morning made her first public appearance since President Joe Biden left the 2024 race on Sunday.
During an address at the White House South Lawn, she praised the president, and said she was deeply grateful for his service to the nation.
More leading Democrats are backing Ms. Harris as the party's new presidential nominee, as her campaign sees a surge in donations.
Some key Democrats haven't yet endorsed her after President Biden dropped out.
They include former President Barack Obama and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
