The country is still
awaiting word from Prime Minister Bruce Golding who is to host a press
conference at the Sangster International Airport
following Sunday night's take over of a flight bound for Canada.
The hijacker, Stephen Fray is in police custody after causing chaos at the airport when he broke through a security check-point and boarded the Can-jet flight.
He brandished a gun at security personnel, ran out onto the tarmac and onto the flight which was only half an hour away from take off for Halifax, Canada.
The man had boarded the charter flight and fired his weapon.
However the airline says there has been no damage to the aircraft and that no one was injured during the eight-hour hostage situation.
The passengers were released and a JDF team later stormed the aircraft rescuing the crew.
A CanJet aircraft left Montreal and is scheduled to arrive in Montego Bay later this afternoon to take passengers and crew on to Santa Clara or back to Canada.
The airline's General Manager Kent Woodside said the crew who were being held are receiving medical attention as a precaution.
