Ian Andrews, Administrative Director of the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS), has been fired from the organisation with immediate effect.
The decision to fire Mr. Andrews was made by the Board on Monday. It follows months of wrangling between Mr. Andrews and the INSPORTS Board.
The dismissal letter, which was signed by Deputy Chairman Newton Amos, was served on Mr. Andrews and his representatives Wednesday afternoon.
When RJR News questioned Sports Minister Olivia Babsy, Grange, she admitted she had heard of the development but said she had not been formally advised.
Mr. Andrews was suspended by the INSPORTS Board in February following an investigation into the running of the agency.
The INSPORTS Board has since filed a complaint with MOCA, claiming that millions of dollars have been misappropriated from the agency's accounts.
Others dismissed
Two other employees of INSPORT were also dismissed.
The Financial Controller, Andrew Wright, was fired for abandoning his job. The Executive Secretary was also dismissed by the Board for the same reason.
Granville Valentine, General Secretary of the National Workers Union, has described the dismissal of Mr. Wright as illegal and said the union will be challenging the decision.
