The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Friday announced that it would provide a grant of US$200,000 to support Jamaica in emergency relief efforts in the wake of the damage caused by the Hurricane.
The IDB said that at the request of the Jamaican government, the grant will be administered and coordinated by the Jamaica Red Cross and would be used to provide humanitarian assistance to hurricane victims.
A statement from the IDB said its office in Kingston will maintain close communications with the Jamaican government and other entities active in the emergency relief efforts.
Earlier this week, IDB president, Luis Alberto Moreno spoke with Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller and expressed the Bank's commitment to assist in the rehabilitation and reconstruction process as necessary.
