The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is calling for those with information that may assist in the probe of the fatal shooting of two men by the police in Green Island, Hanover on Tuesday to make contact.

The deceased men have been identified as brothers, 24-year-old Enrique Harvey and 26-year-old Romaine Harvey.

The police report that Enrique Harvey was taken to his home for a search to be conducted, where he is alleged to have pulled a firearm.

The officers are reported to have taken evasive action and fired at him in response.

Two other officers reported that a man, later identified as Romaine Harvey, was seen running towards them with a firearm in hand, pointed in the direction of the officers.

They, too, reported taking evasive action and firing at the man. Both men were shot and later pronounced dead at hospital.

Two firearms were reportedly recovered from the scene.

INDECOM says residents have provided conflicting accounts and complained about the alleged actions of the concerned officers, which resulted in the killing of the two men.

It says its investigators were advised that no body-worn camera was issued or used during this incident.

The investigative body says any information surrounding this or any other incident should be shared via INDECOM's new WhatsApp number 876-553-0000 or contact may be made through the office of the Commission at 876-968-1932 or 876-968-8875.

The agency is reporting that since the start of the year, 59 people have been shot and killed by members of the security forces. Four of those incidents occurred this month.
