INDECOM probing two police killings in Old Harbour

The Independent Commission of Investigations [INDECOM]] is probing the fatal shooting of two suspects during "targeted operations," conducted by members of the security forces in Old Harbour, St Catherine early Friday morning.

The men have been identified as Oshane Rowe - otherwise called "Daddy 1" or "Gum" - of Smith Avenue Old Harbour, and 17 year-old Tianey Stephens of Terminal Road in Old Harbour Bay.

The Police High Command reported that about 4:50 a.m., a special police team, went to  a Smith Avenue with a warrant in search of wanted men and guns.

It's reported that Rowe was fatally shot, allegedly during a confrontation and an illegal gun seized from him.

About an hour later, a joint police/military operation was conducted along Terminal Road in Old Harbour Bay.

During the operation at a house, the 17 year-old was shot and a Browning 9mm pistol, with a magazine containing seven rounds, was  seized.

More than 100 people have been fatally shot so far this year, all reportedly during  confrontations with members of the security forces.
