The International Labour Organization (ILO) says the unemployment rate has continued to decline for Latin America and the Caribbean and was about 6% in the first half of the year.
The ILO said the regional unemployment rate suggested that the number of people actively working or looking for work has remained stable compared to the previous year and that more people managed to enter the labour market.
While unemployment in Latin America and the Caribbean holds steady, the ILO said concern about informality and inequality persists.
The ILO said in the first half of 2025 the average labour force participation rate in the region remained close to 63% while the employment rate reached nearly 60%.
It also reported that informality remains a defining feature of the region's labour landscape.
The ILO said while informality declined slightly to 46.7% in the first half of 2025, nearly one in every two employed persons still works under informal conditions.
