Police investigators in Jamaica's northern parish of Trelawny, said on Wednesday that they were very near to closing the case relating to the murder of eight year old Imani Green, the British born girl of Jamaican parentage, who was shot dead earlier this year.
Senior Superintendent Noel Christie, head of the Trelawny police division, told RJR News the case was a matter of priority. He said the police, having interviewed several persons, were now examining various factors relating to the case.
Imani was shot twice by gunmen at a shop in Red Dirt Duncans, a few miles from Falmouth, the parish capital, in January. Three other persons were injured in the attack.
Imani was on a long-term visit to Jamaica, staying with relatives, when she was killed. No one has been arrested for her death, which caught the attention of the British and other international media.
Days after her death, a man whom the police said may have been linked to the murder, was gunned down in Duncans Square.
