Jamaica records lowest positivity rate since onset of third COVID wave

Jamaica's COVID-19 positivity rate has declined to 13.2 per cent, the lowest since the third wave of the virus.
 
The Ministry of Health says 72 cases were confirmed on Monday from 521 samples. 
 
The overall case count is 86,456.
 
COVID-19 claimed nine more lives in Jamaica during the period from September 18 to October 11.
 
The death toll is now 2,034.
 
Kingston and St. Catherine each recorded three deaths, two were in St. Elizabeth and one in Clarendon.
 
Another death is being investigated.
 
At the same time, hospitalisations related to the virus declined from 419 on Sunday to 391 on Monday.
 
The ministry says 52 patients are severely ill and 31 are in critical condition.
