Work to address the mould infestation at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions should be completed over the next few weeks.

That's the word from Justice Minister Delroy Chuck.

The ministry was forced to relocate the DPP's office late last year, following health concerns over the presence of mould in the building.

Speaking Wednesday on the Morning Agenda on Power 106, Minister Chuck said the refurbishing work to resolve the problem is near completion.

"...The mould infestation is being cleared up and I expect that within a matter of weeks that they should return...to the offices. To the best of my knowledge, significant work has been done over the last couple months, not only to remove the mould infestation, but to improve ventilation, because mould infestation is caused because of poor ventilation," he disclosed.

The relocation of staff of the DPP's office due to mould took place just about two years after the building was expanded and renovated at a cost of $850 million.
