Jamaican-born Birmingham businessman Wade Lyn has been appointed Honorary Consul for Jamaica in Birmingham.
Reports reaching RJR News out of the offices of the High Commission in London are that Mr. Lyn’s appointment was recently approved by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Arnold J. Nicholson.
Mr. Lyn is the owner and managing director of Cleone Foods Limited, best known as the manufacturers of ‘Island Delight’ range of Jamaican patties. He also holds several local directorships, is a Warden of the Birmingham Assay Office and was recently selected to serve on the board of the Birmingham Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
His appointment means that a more frequent consular service will be available to the Jamaican and wider community in West Midlands. Currently the Jamaican High Commission in London offers a monthly consular service in Birmingham.
