Jamaican government reaching out to nationals in conflict-torn Middle East

Jamaica's Foreign Ministry says it is monitoring the crisis in the Middle East following the US-Israeli attacks on Iran and is urging the country's citizens not to travel to the region at this time.

Iran has since retaliated by attacking several countries in the region frequented by tourists, including Jamaicans.

In a statement, Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith urged Jamaicans in the region to exercise vigilance and to shelter in place while the hostilities continue.

She's also advising Jamaicans to avoid all travel to the region at this time.

Persons seeking emergency assistance are being urged to call 876-391-8105 or email consular@MFAFT.gov.jm.
