Jamaican woman admits to killing another Jamaican in Barbados

A Jamaican woman has admitted in a Barbados court to killing another Jamaican woman during an argument almost three years ago.

Tedesha Ann Hayles, 34, pleaded guilty on Monday to the murder of 26 year old Shockaya Boyd.

However, Hayles told the court she was not guilty of murder, but of manslaughter as she pleaded for leniency.

She will be sentenced on January 31.

The two women were reportedly soliciting at the time of the incident on April 28, 2017.

During a fight, Hayles stabbed Ms Boyd with a knife.

She told the court that Ms Boyd started the fight and she was defending herself.

During the hearing on Monday, the St. Elizabeth resident apologised to Ms Boyd's family and her own.

The post mortem found that death was due to hemorrhage from a stab wound to the neck.
