Jarrett Lane remains tense following shooting

The community of Jarrett Lane in Mountain View, St. Andrew remain tense as residents continue to vent their anger at  Saturday’s killing of 25-year-old Kavorn Shue by the Police.

Residents contacted our newsroom on Sunday threatening to again mount road blocks as they claimed the police were in the community harassing them.

On Saturday, Police and soldiers were  kept busy maintaining law  and order and clearing several blocked roads.

And the National Youth Council of Jamaica (NYC), has reacted strongly to Mr. Shue's killing.

The Council is charging that the incident has now caused a great divide within the Police Youth Club membership, of which Mr. Shue was a part.

It said there are now signs of bad blood between the members and the Police.

The Council is calling for the intervention of the Public Defender, while urging the removal of the officers involved from front line duties.

It also appealed for damage control measures to be implemented.

The group says  the incident could have been avoided, if the Jamaica Constabulary Force possessed a co-ordination

mechanism when going into communities.

It's reported that Mr. Shue was killed at a house on Jarrett Lane shortly after 6 o'clock yesterday morning.

The residents claim Mr. Shue was killed in cold blood.

However, the police claim that they were on an operation in the area in search of wanted men.

They say when they knocked on the door of the house Mr. Shue occupied they were greeted with gunfire which was

returned.

They say Mr. Shue was shot and injured, while another man escaped.

Mr. Shue died later in hospital.

And...the St. Catherine North police division is   keeping an eye on the community of Forest in Job Lane,

after a man was attacked by a group of men who invaded the community Sunday morning.

It's reported that about 9 o'clock, men from neighbouring Winter Pen went in to the area where they shot and injured the

man.

The police area fearing that this could lead to a fresh round of gang feud.

In April, the community erupted into violence following three separate shooting incidents.

Three men were shot and killed on those occasions.

In the aftermath, residents fled the area.
