J’can grandmother on drug smuggling charge in UK

A 77-year old disabled Jamaican grandmother is facing a lengthy prison sentence in Britain for drug smuggling.

Ambrozine Heron is accused of smuggling 1 million pounds worth of cocaine from Holland.

Ms Heron and her daughter, Paulette Chambers, 49, were caught as they tried to drive through Dover Ferry Port in March.

Her Nissan Pathfinder was stopped by customs officials and sniffer dogs discovered 40 tins of palm oil containing cocaine.

Customs officers became suspicious after she made 14 trips to Holland in six months.

Her daughter has already admitted to being involved in the smuggling operations.
