JCF gets 40 new vehicles to bolster fleet

By Nakinskie Robinson

Significant improvements are in the pipeline for the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Fleet Management System to make the police more agile, mobile and better able to disrupt planned criminal activities.

National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang made that announcement during the handing over ceremony for 40 high-end vehicles, valued at $313 million, at the Police Commissioner's Office on Wednesday.

He said the fleet expansion represents the government's commitment to providing the police with the necessary resources and support to carry out their duties effectively and to maintain public order and safety.

In recent years, the Jamaica Constabulary Force has modernised its fleet management system and has streamlined its operations.

During the ceremony Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake said the police must prioritise maintaining public order and safety to support the economic fortunes of the country.

Since 2016, $4.8 billion has been spent on the acquisition of motor vehicles for the JCF.
