JDF soldier, two co-accused remanded on gun and ammunition charges

    

The Jamaica Defence Force Private and two other men charged in relation to the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition in St. Elizabeth were remanded when they appeared in court on Thursday.

 

They are to return to court on October 8.

 

The soldier, Chevin Buchanan, otherwise called 'Sojie'; Chavoy Williams, also known as 'Bag Juice', a sound system operator of Stonehenge district in Cambridge, St. James; and Dwayne Goulbourne, alias 'Metro', a sound system selector of Middle Quarters, St. Elizabeth are charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

 

It's reported that about 1:45 on Sunday afternoon, the three were travelling in a blue Toyota Mark X motor car along the YS main road in St. Elizabeth when they were signalled to stop.

 

The driver complied.

 

During a search of the vehicle, a .40 Smith and Wesson pistol with a magazine containing ten cartridges was found in the centre console.

 

The three men were arrested and transported to Black River Police Station where they were subsequently charged.
