JLP Councillors threaten to boycott sittings of St. James PC

There's more pressure this morning for the two People's National Party, PNP, Councillors in St. James who were arrested by the Lottery Scam Taskforce in St. James nearly a week ago to resign.

Jamaica Labour Party Councillors have served notice that they will boycott future sittings of  the St. James Parish Council if  Deputy Mayor of  Montego Bay, Michael Troupe and Councillor for the Salt Spring Division Sylvan Reid do not heed calls to step down.

Mr. Troupe, through his lawyers, indicated on the weekend that he would take a leave of  absence from his political duties.

There has been no word from Mr Reid of  his intentions.

Spokesman for the JLP representatives, Leroy Williams says the boycott will begin when the Council returns from the summer break if the two do not resign.

At the end of  the PNP's National Executive Council meeting yesterday, Party President, Portia Simpson-Miller, refused to comment on whether sanctions will be brought against Mr. Troupe and Mr. Reid
