Job Lane in Spanish Town reopen to motorists

Norman Scott, Chairman of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation

Motorists can now access Job Lane in Spanish Town, which was closed in September, due to a collapsed water culvert.

The culvert collapsed during heavy rains resulting in damage to the road in the vicinity of the motor vehicle examination depot.

The road, which was raised, was opened last weekend.

The National Works Agency (NWA) said it had been working on a design for a better drainage structure.

However, following pressure from business operators, residents and motorists, the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation decided to act.

Norman Scott, Chairman of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation, told RJR News that after consultation with Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie, the corporation got the go-ahead to fund the project.

Mr. Scott is hoping the municipal corporation will be reimbursed by the NWA.
