The Jamaica Public Service Company is expressing optimism that it will meet the August 12 timeline for the full restoration of electricity to customers without power since the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
The light and power company says its crews will continue working this week to complete restoration efforts.
Director of Corporate Communications at the JPS Winsome Callum said work should be completed in about six parishes on Monday.
She said, due to accessbility challenges, the company has had to employ varying strategies to get to some badly affected communities.
For instance, in Portland, the JPS team has had to use a raft to get into a community, while it had to employ manpower to take materials into a rural St. Andrew community where heavy vehicles are unable to access.
Ms. Callum said the company working with local community leaders who are helping to overcome some of these challenges.
The Office of Utilities Regulation has issued a directive to the JPS for it to comply with the timeline it has given for the restoration of electricity in communities.
