The Jamaica Teachers' Association says it will be known over the next few days whether a shortage of educators will be a concern for school administrators this academic year.
JTA president Mark Malabver, speaking Monday on TVJ's Smile Jamaica, said while the Ministry of Education has been making inroads filling the gaps, he is not yet satisfied with the efforts.
Last month, the Ministry of Education said there was a notable decline in teacher resignations during the summer period, when compared with previous years.
Permanent Secretary Dr. Kasan Troupe said the ministry had taken proactive steps to address staffing gaps to ensure the continuity of quality education.
She said then that, while there was a possibility of some more resignations at the end of August, the education system remained robust.
