Air Jamaica
is now without its full cadre of Board members just one week after Cabinet
approved the appointment of new Directors to head the financially troubled
airline.
Head of Pulse Investments, Kingsley Cooper, who was selected to serve on the Board has written to Transport Minister Mike Henry indicating that it would be inappropriate for him to take up the post.
Mr. Cooper, who is also an attorney-at-law, has cited a conflict of interest.
He told RJR News that Air Jamaica has been a sponsor of events staged by Pulse Investments in which he has a major interest.
Mr. Cooper says the two entities are expected to maintain close ties in the future and it would therefore be improper if he served on the airline's Board:
It could not be ascertained how soon a replacement Director will be appointed.
